Titled in 1890, The Old Harvey Ritchie Place gives
hunters a dream location to hunt. Private 80 acres
of meadows and woods adjacent to 1,200 federal
huntable acres providing a vast array of
opportunities for recreation and relaxation. There
are preset hunting locations, and a 3/4 acre spring
fed pond. Persimmon groves abound. Wildlife include
deer and bear. Cabin with electricity,
wood stove, fridge and a newly built outhouse.
Sorry, no running water. Many families rent the
cabin to have an old fashion Christmas or
Thanksgiving. The Oark General Store bought the
hunting lodge in 2001 so that tourists could have a
place to stay and enjoy the land, stocked ponds,
great mountain views and access to the Ozark
Highlands Trail. There
ARE NO OTHER leased cabins in this
part of the forest in Johnson County.
The
old Harvey Ritchie Place was once known as the
largest boot legging operation in Johnson County
